Are Too Many Accountants Experiencing Burnout?

Almost half of all accountants have reported that burnout is seen as a normal part of their working lives, and two-thirds say they suffer from career stress.

Research from Caba, the Chartered Accountants Benevolent Association, also found that 13% have suffered financial hardship within the last year, and 16% admitted to having to use credit for essentials. 72% of the accountants reporting financial hardship said that increasing living costs had been the most significant cause, and 42% said they had been forced to reduce costs on basics such as broadband, heating and hot water.

Ill Health

The Caba study also found that one in five accountants had issues with poor health, and 21% of people who are training or working in the field, or who have retired from the profession, are living with challenges to their health that affect everyday activities.

In response to what it sees as a crisis in the profession, Caba has launched a new campaign aimed at accountants in Bath and across the country. Accountants such as those working for companies like //chippendaleandclark.com/accountants-near-me/bath/ are being urged to check out the Behind the Profession campaign, which aims to highlight the issues and signpost to available support.

Seek Help

Caba is urging accountants to seek support after its study discovered that 46% said they felt there was the expectation to keep things together even at the most difficult of times. Caba itself has helped around 40,000 people in the last year with its online resources and almost 5,000 accountants with one-to-one assistance.
